After signing a deal with British shoe company, Clarks, last week, Popcaan heads to Europe for a nine-date tour.
It is scheduled to start Sunday in Berlin, Germany, at The Metropol club, which seats up to 850 patrons. That will be followed by back-to-back shows (November 20 and 21) in Paris, France at Salle Playel, a 96-year-old concert hall with a seating capacity of 2,000.
On November 23, the Unruly Boss plays the Zoom Frankfurt venue in Germany, which is reconfigured due to the drawing power of the artiste. The next day sees him at La Madaleine in Brussels, Belgium, which has a 2,600 capacity.
His next gigs (November 26-27) are club dates in Oslo, Norway, and Bern, Sweden, respectively. Two days later, Popcaan performs at The Academy in Dublin, Ireland, a popular venue that can accommodate up to 850 fans.
Four days later, he is in the United Kingdom, considered his biggest market in Europe. His lone show there takes place at Victoria Warehouse in Manchester, one of the O2 venues that can hold as many as 2,550 patrons.
Popcaan’s tour ends with back-to-back shows at Melkweg in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This 1,500-seat spot is arguably that country’s most popular reggae venue, hosting artistes such as Max Romeo, Alborosie, Sean Paul, Capleton, Lutan Fyah, and Lila Ike.
The dancehall artiste and Clarks launched their Unruly Wallabee Boot on November 10. It was announced four days later with a social media video showing Popcaan browsing the English countryside, for the Clarks factory in Somerset, south-west England.
He is the latest Jamaican star to sign an endorsement deal with Clarks, which has had a presence in dancehall culture for over 50 years. The Chelsea and England striker Raheem Sterling is also associated with the brand.
Popcaan and Vybz Kartel saluted the shoe company on Clarks, their 2010 hit single.
