The fifth staging of the Abuja Reggae Festival in Nigeria will feature Hezron, Mikey General, and Nature Ellis.

Noting that reggae music has had a healing impact in Africa, Star Tyson, CEO of ReggaeBeat, the official media partner for the event, noted that they anticipate another successful staging.

“This event came about to promote peace, love, and unity. Music has the power to unite people and to act as a coping mechanism,” she told the Jamaica Observer.

Tyson added: “Reggae has provided a voice for the people here in Africa to give feedback on many topics — politics, economics, environmentalism, and social issues.”

The festival is slated for December 13 Green View.

Music will be provided by DJ Gideon, DJ Kems, DJ Willies, DJ Jozenga, and DJ Lex.

According to Tyson, there has been an increase in support for the event.

“This year, the overwhelming media partnership and participation from new local artistes have promoted preparations for this year’s event. Sponsorship is the most challenging area, which is always invited and appreciated,” she explained.

Besides the seasoned acts, the show will provide a stage to unleash several emerging artistes from across the continent.

“New local artistes will be travelling from Lagos, Jos, Port Harcourt to take advantage of the platform to showcase their musical talent,” Tyson said.
