Legend, the best-selling reggae album of all time by Bob Marley and The Wailers, entered its 800th week in Billboard magazine’s 200 chart last week.

Released in 1984 by Island Records, Legend is only the second album to accomplish this feat.

The other is Dark Side of The Moon by British band Pink Floyd, which came out in 1973.

Forbes magazine reports this week that the Billboard 200 “ranks the most-consumed albums in the US based on a methodology that combines sales and streaming activity”.

It added that, “Bob Marley and The Wailers sit at #106 on this week’s Billboard 200 with Legend, but it’s not the position that matters. The CD has now lived on the ranking for 800 weeks exactly, which is an incredibly rare achievement for any album.”

Legend was released three years after Marley’s death from cancer at age 36. Its original edition had 14 songs, selected from albums he recorded for Island Records with The Wailers (which included Peter Tosh and Bunny “Wailer” Livingston) and as a solo performer after he left that band in in 1974.

Those songs include Get Up, Stand Up, Stir it Up, No Woman, No Cry, Satisfy my Soul, Could You be Loved, Waiting in Vain, Exodus, One Love, and Redemption Song.
