Another installment of the Rum-Bar Vibes Fest series recently rolled into Junction Square in St Elizabeth.
Breakthrough dancehall artists Jah Vinci and Pablo YG ruled the mic and were joined by artists such as Khago and the up-and-coming KevoDon, who performed short sets for the hundreds of patrons who came out to enjoy the vibe and Rum-Bar specials.
The show was hosted by social personality Keticia “TC” Chatman, who had the crowd buzzing with giveaway challenges, with the sound provided by A-Team.
Tamika West, Worthy Park Estate’s marketing manager, said it was important to bring this event to St Bess.
“St Elizabeth was one of the first parishes to support Rum-Bar White Overproof rum when it first launched in 2007. So, when we established the concept for Vibes Fest, Junction was always one of the key locations to take the concert. After observing the turnout we received tonight, it is clear the support for the brand is still strong.”
She added that Rum-Bar is stepping out of the shadow of its former self and is ready to own its place within dancehall and reggae music culture.
“Reggae music is Jamaica, 100 per cent born and bred, and Rum-Bar is 100 per cent born and bred Jamaican,” said West.
Jah Vinci noted that it is important to work with brands that continue to promote reggae and dancehall music.
“It is most important because I am about reggae and dancehall. Reggae music is a worldwide thing, it is a healing thing,” said Jah Vinci. He added that his new project Rated M has just been released. He closed the show with music from his impressive catalog, including Watch Yuh Frenz, Mama Love, and Guide Me.
Similarly, Pablo YG spoke to the importance of supporting brands that promote reggae music.
“Reggae a fi wi culture. Yuh haffi support wi owna thing. A wi we a support,” said Pablo YG.
He rocked the crowd with singles such as Bad Juvi and Booming, along with his new single Rum Dweet. The young artiste also shared that he was celebrating his 19th birthday with the audience.
