AWARD-WINNING DJ Antsman is celebrating the success of his Duppy Rock rhythm.

The production, which was released late last year, features songs by Jeff Fullyauto, Elsanto Elgad, Abblo Music, and Red Mattic.

“The project has been doing well, especially the Jeff Fullyauto track Chip. That song has charted on the iTunes reggae chart in 15 countries and went to #1 in Belize,” DJ Antsman disclosed in an interview with the Jamaica Observer’s Splash on Wednesday.

He said the reception to Chip has been positive.

“The feedback is good. It’s a party vibes song; a song talking about being a ‘gallis’, and basically everyday life, and people can relate to that,” he said.

DJ Antsman explained how the link with Jeff Fullyauto (best known for the hit Jericho) came about.

“It was through social media that the link was made at first, and then I sent him some beat and he liked the Duppy Rock rhythm and voiced on it. The energy just took off from there,” he shared.

A Duppy Rock dance challenge (named after the song of the same name by Red Mattic) was initiated on social media platform TikTok and performed by dancer Mikii High Flames, of the popular dance group High Flames, has gone viral.

Born Shamari McCoy, DJ Antsman is originally from the Waltham Park Road area. He presently resides in the Duhaney Park community.

He attended St George’s College and later did sixth form at Ardenne High.

The 26-year-old says he has been a DJ since 2012.

“I was with Rebel Sound for three years and then I moved onto Romeich Entertainment. Music is something that I wanted to do since I was in high school,” said DJ Antsman who quickly developed a following with the teenage demographic.

In 2018 he won the Youth View Award (YVA) for DJ of the Year.

“Winning the YVA gave me a footstep into the big leagues, and I was now being compared to the established DJs. It gave me a lot of exposure,” DJ Antsman reminisced.

He said that his love for music was what drew him to music production.

“I always saw myself as a producer and I decided to make it manifest. So far I have worked with several artistes, including Pablo YG, Skillibeng, Armanii, D-Uptimis, Swazz, and Abataw (son of recording artiste Tony Rebel) and others,” said DJ Antsman.

He made his production debut in 2021 with his Loudest City Records imprint, which released the beat Deh Ya. It contained the song of the same name by Skeng, as well as newcomer Minisicka aka Zambie Musiq and others.
