Several shows on Buju Banton’s Overcomer Tour have been rescheduled, the artiste’s management has announced.

Five dates in September Houston, Dallas, Phoenix, Inglewood, California, and Chicago) have been rescheduled.

The Overcomer Tour opens, as initially planned, on August 23 at Amerant Bank Arena in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

No reason was given for the postponements, but the statement declared that, “The Overcomer Tour is on, and there will be no cancellations.”

Atlanta, Georgia, and Hartford, Connecticut are scheduled for September.

The other dates in August are Tampa; Washington, DC; and Boston.

The Overcomer Tour was announced 48 hours after Buju Banton performed to sold-out audiences at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, on July 13-14.

That venue, home to National Hockey League team New York Islanders, has a 18,500 capacity.

It is the Grammy-winning artiste’s first trek of the United States since 2009’s Rasta Got Soul tour. The Long Island gigs marked a triumphant return to that country since his release from federal prison, after eight years, in December 2018 on drug-related charges.

In May, Buju Banton’s US visa was reinstated.

He has performed on a number of epic events since, starting in March 2019 at the National Stadium in Kingston.

Fifteen years ago, the Rasta Got Soul tour was hounded by gay rights groups who demanded the artiste apologise for his anti-homosexual stance in songs like Boom Bye Bye.
