Keith ‘Bob Andy’ Anderson is one of Jamaica’s greatest, most respected singers and songwriters – a reggae legend with a rich, varied and timeless catalogue. Join us as we pay tribute to his talents and impact with the launch of our first competition —The Bob Andy Song Competition— which runs for 20 days from Monday, July 6, 2020 to Monday, August 3, 2020 in light of his recent passing.

We aim to facilitate a wider appreciation of Bob Andy’s top quality songs, both popular and lesser known, honouring his contributions to reggae music while helping to preserve his legacy.

WHAT YOU’LL WIN

We’ve partnered with sponsors, Tools Hardware Ltd. and New Budget Hardware & Supplies Ltd. to give away cash prizes to six (6) lucky listeners with a great ear for music; fusing the listen and vote option with a random selection approach so everyone gets a fair chance to win!

After the weekly votes are in, the top six (6) winners will be selected from a draw on the final day to win one of the following cash prizes: 

The A List

First place winner —$20,000 JMD
Second place winner — $10,000 JMD
Third place winner — $5,000 JMD

The B List

First place winner —$20,000 JMD
Second place winner — $10,000 JMD
Third place winner — $5,000 JMD

COMPETITION DETAILS

  1. The competition lasts for 20 days. It begins on Monday, July 6, 2020 and will take place in our morning programme —Top of the Morning with Richie B (#TOTM)— which is aired on weekdays, Monday to Friday from 6:00-10:00 AM.
  2. Every day at 8:15 AM, the presenter, Richie B, will dedicate 10 minutes to the feature. During this slot, he will play two (2) Bob Andy songs, one from a list of his bonafide hits (referred to as the “A” list) and another selection from his lesser known songs (referred to as the “B” list).
  3. Over the 20-day period ending on Monday, August 3, 2020, a total of 40 Bob Andy songs will be played. Edge FM listeners will be invited to check out all 40 songs and choose two favourites, one (1) from each playlist, i.e. The A List (of popular songs) and The B List (of lesser known songs) to vote for.

HOW TO ENTER

  1. Tune in to the programme every morning at 8:15 AM to hear all 40 songs OR play them all right here on our website at edge105.com to refresh your memory, in order to choose one (1) song from The A List and another one (1) from The B List.
  2. Log in here on our website to create a profile with your name, phone number, e-mail address and your two (2) song selections (one from The A List and one from The B List).
  3. You will only be allowed to vote once for each playlist, so you must choose a single song from each of the playlists to vote for. Multiple entries will be disqualified.
  4. A weekly tally of the leading songs, by way of votes, will be mentioned each Friday (e.g. as at Friday July 10, “Too Experienced” is in 3rd place with 27 votes, etc.)
  5. At the end of 20 days (a total of 40 songs having been played), all the votes will be tallied one last time. Then on Monday, August 3, the top six (6) winners will be randomly selected in the Grand Finale — a 15-minute programme aired at the same feature time in the show, 8:15 AM.
  6. All voters who had their favourites picked as the number one Bob Andy song on each playlist will have their names entered into a draw.
  7. We will then play the top Bob Andy songs (i.e. the two selections from The A List & The B List that got the highest number of votes); draw the names of six (6) winners and announce the awardees of the cash prizes.
